Biennial food facility registration renewal due by December 31

FDA resources available to assist renewal process

Published: Friday, December 21, 2018

December 21, 2018 – The American Herbal Products Association is calling attention to the need for food facilities (including dietary supplement facilities) that are required to register with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to renew their registration not later than December 31, 2018, if they have not already done so.

FDA has provided several resources to assist food and supplement companies to comply with this requirement. For example, the agency recently published a fact sheet to explain what food facilities need to know about this year’s biennial registration renewal period. According to FDA, the fact sheet answers questions such as: Who needs to register? How can food facilities go about renewing their registration? And, how can facilities save time during the renewal process?

Additional information on this year’s biennial registration renewal period can be found at the Food Facility Registration User Guide: Biennial Registration Renewal webpage

FDA also hosted a webinar on October 25 to provide guidance and answer questions on the renewal process; a recording of that webinar can be accessed at https://collaboration.fda.gov/ffrb1/. Note that the webinar is in Adobe Connect format and will require the Flash Player plugin, version 13.0 or above, to be installed.
