AHPA to expand Board of Trustees under new bylaws

AHPA creates Tenured Trustees and Appointed Trustees to expand and enrich Board

Published: Monday, January 7, 2019

The AHPA bylaws were recently amended to create Tenured Trustees and Appointed Trustees, two new categories of trustees to serve on the AHPA Board. Under the new bylaws, AHPA can expand and enrich its Board of Trustees to ensure sufficient expertise to represent all AHPA members and the broader herbal products industry.

The Tenured Trustee was created for individuals who have served five complete three-year terms as an Elected Trustee. The Assigned Trustee positions creates two chairs to fill perceived gaps in representation of all segments of AHPA’s Active membership, or to provide needed expertise not currently available in the board.

"Expanding the AHPA Board of Trustees through these amended bylaws will help ensure all members are represented when the Board meets," said AHPA President Michael McGuffin. "It will also help ensure that AHPA has the breadth and depth of knowledge to can accurately represent the herbal industry."

The revised bylaws became effective after a quorum of AHPA Active members recently voted to approve the expansion of the board. This enables long-time AHPA Board Members Daniel Gagnon, Staci Eisner, Beth Lambert, and Mitch Coven to serve as Tenured Trustees.

"AHPA is truly grateful for the numerous contributions made by Daniel, Beth, Staci and Mitch and we are excited to welcome them to their new role on the board as Tenured Trustees," McGuffin said. "We look forward to benefiting from their expertise for many years into the future."

The board is working to determine how best to utilize its new authority to fill the two Appointed Trustee positions.
