Temperature Monitoring for Chambers (SOP and Log)

This SOP assumes the temperature is monitored manually using thermometers rather than, say, being monitored continually using a chart recorder or a temperature alarm system. (In that case, the chart recorder should be calibrated periodically, generally by an outside service.) In addition to refrigerators and freezers, the SOP may be used (with appropriate modifications) to verify the temperature of incubators (such as for microbiology testing), if in use at the company.

NOTE about the log template:  If the ID number of the thermometer will be the same at each reading, the ID # and calibration due date could be moved to the header of the form. The column for "time" is optional if the readings are taken once per day or less, but may be helpful in reviewing the data for trends.
