AHPA is an active member of IADSA and is distributing the IADSA Newsflash as a member benefit. IADSA is an association focused on the globalization of food supplement markets and regulatory challenges. This issue of the IADSA Newsflash covers:

• China has new rules for food importation and facility registration going into effect on January 1, 2022, with no transition period currently defined.
• Korea has modified the warning statement for the following functional ingredients: ginseng, red ginseng, chlorella, milk thistle extract, marigold extract, indigestible maltodextrin, and MSM.
• In the European Union (EU), a ban on the use of titanium dioxide is expected to enter into force in early 2022 with a 6-month transition period to a ban on use of this ingredient in food products.
• The EU has authorized three novel ingredients - Dried fruits of Synsepalum dulcificum (miracle fruit), vitamin D2 mushroom powder, and 3-fucosyllactose.
• The EU is proposing changes to the import requirements for vitamin D3 derived from sheep wool lanolin, shelf stable composite products containing colostrum products, an empty gelatin capsules.
• France has classified vitamin D3 as a potential endocrine disruptor, which requires a public disclosure of information by marketers.
• Brazil has authorized another 42 ingredients for use in supplements and published a guide for the evaluation of health claims.
