AHPA supports humanitarian efforts for Ukrainian refugees in Poland

March 2022: AHPA encourages members to join the association in answering a call for support by the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research

Published: Wednesday, March 30, 2022

The Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (Gesellschaft für Arzneipflanzenforschung e.V. [“GA”]) recently issued a call for support of refugees impacted by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) has joined the American Herbal Pharmacopeia (AHP) in endorsing this request with a modest financial contribution. AHPA encourages its members and the wider herbal community to read GA’s appeal and consider supporting the humanitarian efforts as well.

In its appeal, GA requests support for the humanitarian efforts of the Polish Ukrainian Foundation for the Development of Medicine (Polsko Ukrainska Fundacja Rozwoju Medycyny) – which includes sending essential medicines and other necessary supplies to Ukrainian refugees in Poland; establishing childcare facilities; and providing employment for displaced Ukrainian mothers. These efforts were brought to GA’s attention by Professor Krystyna Skalicka-Woźniak, a longstanding board member of GA, who is actively working with the Polish Ukrainian Foundation.

“AHPA humbly endorses GA’s request for support and encourages others to join us in making contributions of any amount toward urgently needed humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees,” said AHPA President Michael McGuffin.
