Since January 24, 2014, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has performed 16 enforcement actions advising consumers not to purchase or use products because FDA laboratory analysis confirmed that these products contain undeclared ingredients.
FDA issued a voluntary recall and warning letter, two international recalls, and six public notifications for 21 weight loss products and five public notifications concerning sexual enhancement products that "contain hidden drug ingredients."
Internationally, health agencies in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Canada issued eight safety advisories for sexual enhancement and weight loss products that "contain hidden drug ingredients."
AHPA maintains a website (KeepSupplementsClean.org) that tracks the latest FDA enforcement actions taken against illegal, tainted products being sold as "dietary supplements." The site provides detailed resources and information for the supplement industry and consumers.
