Nominations now being accepted for 2020 AHPA Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) 2020 Awards. The awards will be presented at the Annual AHPA Member Meeting and Breakfast on March 4, 2020 at the Natural Products Expo West trade show in Anaheim, CA.

AHPA's annual awards, first presented in 2006, acknowledge individuals and organizations for making substantive, positive contributions to the herbal products industry.

"AHPA awards recognize herbal industry professionals who demonstrate a commitment to excellence that promote industry growth and maturity,” said AHPA President Michael McGuffin. “AHPA greatly appreciates these contributions to the industry that help ensure continued access to safe, high-quality products manufactured in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations."

AHPA Award categories

Herbal Hero: Individuals who make outstanding contributions to AHPA committees or initiatives.
Herbal Industry Leader: Companies that set an example of outstanding business practices or organizations that work to move the industry forward, exceeding the standards of normal business practices.
Herbal Insight Award: Individuals or non-commercial organizations that have a significant impact on furthering knowledge and understanding of botanicals and their uses.

  • Herbal Hero Award: Steven Yeager, Mountain Rose Herbs
  • Herbal Industry Leadership Award: Oregon’s Wild Harvest
  • Herbal Insight Award: Kelly Kindscher, Ph.D., University of Kansas
  • Industry Pioneer Award: Sara Katz, Herb Pharm
  • Super Natural Award: Mark Blumenthal, American Botanical Council

Nominations can be submitted by AHPA members using the online nomination form and must be submitted by December 13, 2019.

Nominations will be reviewed by members of AHPA's Communications Committee, which represents a diverse group of industry stakeholders. The committee recommends recipients for each award category and presents these recommendations to AHPA's board of trustees for approval.
