SILVER SPRING, MD, Dec. 7, 2021 – The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) today announced Melissa Do has joined the association as Director of Communications, reporting to Amber Bennett, Vice President of Marketing & Engagement at AHPA.

A hemp CBD industry alum, Do held education, marketing and communications roles at CV Sciences before joining AHPA. In her new role, Do will improve engagement and communications with media and publicize the crucial work being done by AHPA and its members to ensure the accessibility of safe herbal goods to informed consumers.

“Melissa brings a passion for strategic writing and design that will elevate the performance of our team,” said AHPA President Michael McGuffin. “Her work will ensure that AHPA continues to be recognized for our industry leadership and scientific and regulatory contributions, while tailoring our communications and distribution of information to meet the distinct needs of our stakeholders in today’s digital landscape.”

Do received her bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations from San Diego State University, and has a background in marketing, communications and events in the software, commercial real estate, and CBD industries.

“We look forward to Melissa bringing her enthusiasm for written and visual storytelling and new ideas to AHPA’s communications efforts,” said Bennett. “She will play a key role in the development of AHPA’s digital content and resources, including our website and social media presence, as we celebrate AHPA’s 40th year of advancing the herbal products industry and beyond.”

The year 2022 will mark AHPA’s 40th anniversary, a milestone for the trade association founded in 1982. “I am honored to join AHPA at this incredible time in the association’s history,” said Do. “In this role, I am eager to amplify the history-making work of AHPA and its members, and apply what I have learned from the fast-changing hemp CBD industry to the wider herbal product and dietary supplement industries.”
