AHPA’s Michael McGuffin discusses MPL, NAC, and modernizing dietary supplement regulations on “Short Legal Briefs”

In the most recent episode of “Short Legal Briefs,” AHPA President Michael McGuffin joined host Josh Long and fellow industry trade association leaders to discuss mandatory product listing (MPL), N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), and modernizing dietary supplement regulations.

This interview follows the release of FDA’s FY23 budget request to Congress, in which the agency outlined its proposal for an MPL requirement for dietary supplements. AHPA has previously raised unaddressed concerns about MPL and, instead of such a requirement, McGuffin contends that modernization should be focused on matters such as removing obstacles to disseminating truthful and not misleading information to consumers, and reconsidering the drug preclusion clause.

“If we’ve got an ounce of energy to go change the law, let’s change it in places that will benefit consumers,” said McGuffin.

Hear more from McGuffin on these matters when he joins Informa’s Jon Benninger for a live interview on SupplySide Network 365 next week:
