The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) Cannabis Committee submitted comments on June 19 in response to the Alaskan Alcoholic Beverage Control Board / Marijuana Control Board's May 19, 2015, Proposed Regulations Regarding Marijuana and Local Options.

In November 2014, Alaska passed a citizen's initiative to legalize adult use, sale and possession of marijuana. Alaska is now in the rulemaking phase and in response to the first of three sets of proposed regulations, AHPA's Cannabis Committee offered recommendations to proposed definitions to further ensure quality botanical products and consumer safety.

The Cannabis Committee will continue to work with state legislators and regulators to help provide a framework for the oversight of Cannabis production and distribution practices from seed to the consumer.
